Muzala, founder of Zalaz Interior Design & Décor, has reshaped the landscape of interior design in Zambia. Established in 2018, Zalaz began as a passion project and has grown into one of the country’s leading interior design firms. Muzala’s journey from a Quantity Surveyor to an accomplished interior designer exemplifies resilience, vision, and innovation.
After earning her degree and working at a QS consultancy firm for two years, Muzala gained extensive exposure to building projects and construction sites. Recognizing the untapped potential for high-quality, smart interiors, she began taking on pro bono projects, honing her design skills. She later joined Zambia’s second-largest interior fit-out company, where she contributed to significant projects such as the refurbishment of the Intercontinental Hotel. These experiences fueled her ambition to establish Zalaz, a company capable of delivering end-to-end interior solutions—from space design and 2D/3D rendering to BoQs and project execution.
Today, Zalaz employs over ten talented young Zambians, including artisans and designers, under Muzala's guidance. Her leadership has cultivated a vibrant and innovative team that continues to evolve, leaving a mark on homes, offices, and commercial spaces across Zambia.
